Keira Knightley
Born in London to actors Will Knightley and Sharman Macdonald, Knightley obtained an agent aged six. Initially, she performed in commercials and TV films. In 1999, she played Sabe for the role of Sabe Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Her breakthrough came as a tomboy footballer in the sports film Bend It Like Beckham (2002) in which she later achieved worldwide fame as Elizabeth Swann in the swashbuckler fantasy show Pirates of the Caribbean, from 2003. Knightley was regarded as an exciting young star following her being featured on screen in Love Actually (2003). Knightley earned the Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in the role of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride & Prejudice (2005). Knightley was also in many more period films, including Atonement (2007, a romantic love tale), The Duchess, (2008) as well as Anna Karenina, (2012). Also, she was a socialite titled Georgiana as part of The Duchess. In modern dramas, she portrayed an ambitious music student for Begin Again (2012) and the role of a Doctor on the set of Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit (2013). Knightley returned to historical films as Joan Clarke in The Imitation Game (2014) and earned her a nomination for The Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress She also played the writer whose name is Colette (2018).
